1812 – A deserter returned on board at Washington, DC, from Baltimore, MD.
1823 – Departed Tunis, Tunisia.
1824 – Captain Sameula Evans, Commandant, New York Navy Yard, collapsed and died as he boarded the ship for an official visit.
1827 – Departed Napoli de Romania (Nauplia), Greece.
1836 – Arrived at Genoa, Italy.
1837 – Departed Palermo, Sicily.
1849 – Eleven men flogged for unspecified offenses. Departed Spezzia, Italy.
1853 – Arrived at Gibraltar.
1855 – Arrived at Portsmouth, NH.

1821 – Arrived at Gibraltar.
1822 – Departed Naples, Italy.
1854 – At her Captain’s request, an officer and Marine Guard sent aboard American bark KANAHWAH to quell drunken mutiny. Four mutineers brought to frigate and later shipped as crewmembers.
1879 – Arrived at Philadelphia, PA.

1799 – Silas Talbot relieved Samuel Nicholson, Sr., as Captain.
1804 – Departed Syracuse, Sicily.
1826 – Departed Tunis, Tunisia.

1823 – Arrived at Syracuse, Sicily.
1837 – Arrived at Malta.
1850 – Six men flogged for unspecified offenses.
1930 – Tyrone Gabriel Martin, Captain 1974-8, born in Greenwich, CT.

1804 – Arrived at Malta.
1805 – Departed Tripoli, Libya.
1845 – Arrived at Macao.
1854 – One man deserted at Porto Praya, Cape Verde Is.
1932 – Suspended courts martial given a sailor and a Marine for being out of uniform, disregarding orders, AWOL, and voilating 2 articles of Navy Regulations.1933-Seaman AWOL 3 hours.

1800 – Private Rue Stanter died of a fever and was buried at sea. One man flogged for insolence.
1811 – One man deserted from a ship’s boat.
1821 – Assumed duties as flagship of the Mediterranean Squadron.

1934 – Louis Joseph Gulliver decommissioned ship in Boston, MA. During her tour of the country beginning July 1931, 4,647,578 people visited her.

1846 – Two men given 6 lashes each for skulking.
1850 – Arrived at Spezzia, Italy.
1853 – Sailed from Gibraltar to Tangier, Morocco.

1800 – Seaman Luther Eddy died of a complication of disorders and was buried at sea.
1805 – Departed Malta and arrived at Syracuse, Sicily.
1812 – Departed Washington, DC, and arrived at Alexandria, VA.
1822 – Seaman Nathaniel Thompson drowned while attempting to desert in Messina, Sicily.
1853 – Sailed from Tangier, Morocco, to Gibraltar.
1925 – Jack Loren Reifschneider, Captain 1970-1, born.

1932 – Henry Hartley, Jr., son of new Executive Officer, Lieutenant Commander Henry Hartley, Sr., christened on board.
1933 – Miss Pauline Newman recorded as 4 millionth visitor of national tour while at Tacoma, WA. (See 19 Jul.)
1992 – Commander Richard B. Amirault became the second Commanding Officer to be married on board. Bride is Ms. Kathleen Hennessy.

1799 – U. S. Navy’s first court martial, of Lieutenant John Blake Cordis, commenced on board. Found not guilty of beating a seaman; charge of sleeping on watch “not proved.”
