USS Constitution’s 1812 crew was made up of 400-500 men. The Museum has undertaken extensive research and continues to learn more about the individuals who served on board.
After exploring the story and objects associated with each crew member, identify the similarities and differences in the crew. Consider:
-Where are the crew members from?
-Why did they join the United States Navy?
-What skills or experience did they already have?
-What types of people are missing from the Constitution crew?
Why do you think more information, images and objects have survived for some sailors, but not for others?
Check back soon, we will be adding more Sailor Stories.
