Littlest Sailors: Preschool & Family Program

January 19, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

  • « Boston Area Chantey & Maritime Sing
  • Littlest Sailors: Preschool & Family Program »

Bring your littlest sailors along for songs, stories, and playtime at the USS Constitution Museum! Children ages 3-5 years and their accompanying adults are invited to join us at 10:00 AM as we explore the following themes:

January 19: Daily Life at Sea
Is a sailor’s life for you? Discover the adventurous life of being a Constitution sailor in 1812 as your family works with numbers and shapes, and uses their imagination in our “All Hands on Deck” exhibit.

February 2: Animals Aboard Ship
Introduce your family to the many animals who lived on Constitution! Sing a song about Constitution’s fuzziest sailor, Guerriere the Terrier, engage in creative puppet play, and search the museum for animals of all shapes and sizes.

February 16: What’s for Dinner?
Whether it’s 2017 or 1817 – everyone needs to eat! Explore the typical diet of an 1812 Constitution sailor by seeing and feeling real sailor food, talk about color and modern food, and imagine making a Constitution sailor’s meal.

March 2: Dressed to Impress
Are you dressed to impress? Explore the clothing worn by ordinary sailors and officers on Constitution in 1812 while learning about texture, color, the difference between these two naval ranks.

$8 per child with one accompanying adult. Admission by donation for any siblings under 12 months. Please e-mail museumlearning@usscm.org to reserve your spot in this new exciting program today.
