The Work of Many Hands: Boarding Party & Collections Open House
June 3, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
From shipwrights, to joiners, smiths, and riggers – it took many hands to design and build a wooden ship as strong as iron.
Join us for the Museum’s Boarding Party & Collections Open House. Explore first-hand how the construction of Constitutionwas a massive undertaking requiring the skill and ingenuity of Boston’s best craftsmen.
See up close the tool chest used by ship joiner and Charlestown native Samuel Chandler during the 1800s, and witness the debut of former Constitution Lieutenant Alexander Scammel Wadsworth and his wife Louisa Denison’s portraits – framed in white oak wood taken from the original hull of the ship.
Our 5th annual Privateer Rum Challenge will be in full swing as we kick off our summer season! Enjoy sea-worthy libations and celebrate the legacy of innovation embodied in America’s Ship of State.
Your participation in this event supports the Commodores Fund used to acquire, protect, and share the stories of those who built Constitution and championed to preserve her.
