Enjoy drinks and hors d’oeuvres as master modeler Rob Napier shares his insight into the intricate and exquisite art of model ships – then you be the judge! Drawing on his experience as both competition winner and judge, Mr. Napier will show you where – and how – to look at the tiny details and craftsmanship on display. In his over 40-year career, Mr. Napier has worked to repair and conserve models – including at the USS Constitution Museum, where he is restoring a 140-year-old model of “Old Ironsides.” He bases his own original models on extensive research combing through records to create his plans. Mr. Napier’s maritime experience spans beyond miniature ships to yacht racing, boat building, commercial fishing, and US Navy service. As Mr. Napier describes what he looks for in a model ship, turn to your own eye to the Masters of Miniature Model Ship Show and vote for your favorite.
