View the 185-year-old Dry Dock 1 in the Charlestown Navy Yard with Margherita Desy, Historian with USS Constitution for a 45 minute tour. Learn about the building of the dry dock, its importance to the 19th and 20th U.S. Navy, and the dock’s history with “Old Ironsides”, the first warship to enter the dock on June 24, 1833.
This tour requires participants to be able to climb steep and long flights of stairs in and out of the dry dock and to be exposed to the sun; not recommended for children younger than age 10; close-toe shoes/sneakers a must. The tour is limited to 20 people and will leave from the USS Constitution Museum’s Lobby. In the case of inclement weather, you will be contacted about the tour by email.
