PTSD Awareness Day Veteran Woodworking Event
Join us in-person on Monday, June 27th from 10am – 12pm for a special veterans-only woodworking event in recognition of PTSD Awareness Day. USS Constitution Model Shipwright Guild member and U.S. Air Force veteran, Michael Davison, will teach participants how to create a small wooden “comfort bird.” During a stressful event, the comfort birds are used as soothing tactical touch objects. This is a special event for veteran participants and will provide a welcoming environment for veterans to meet one another and create this meaningful object. Each veteran participant will make one comfort bird to keep or donate to the Museum to be given to other local veterans.
Space is limited to 10 veterans. Wood carving experience is encouraged. Please complete the form below to register for this event.
This event is part of the Salute to Service Initiative at the USS Constitution Museum, generously supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
