Early Life

Daniel Moody’s place and date of birth are not known.

Moody entered USS Constitution on September 6, 1813 at Boston, Massachusetts. His rank was able seaman and he was on the larboard watch. Moody was assignedt oafterguard and served as a fireman on the no. 4 gun. On October 18, 1814, he was court martialed and found guilty of desertion. As punishment, he was sentenced to 100 lashes and labeled “deserter” for 30 days. He was discharged on July 27, 1815 at Boston.

Moody was on board for the battle with HMS Cyane and HMS Levant.

Moody’s date and place of death are unknown.
