Hollis joined USS Constitution on July 1, 1813. His rank was able seaman, and he served as a frieman on the no. 6 gun. Hollis transferred from USS Constitution to ex-HMS Cyane after it was captured on February 20, 1815.

Hollis was on board for the battles with HMS Cyane and HMS Levant, and the capture of HMS Pictou.
