Early Life

Elisha Newcomb was born on March 11, in either 1773 or 1774 in Welfleet, Massachusetts. His parents were Simeon Newcomb and Experience Arey.

Newcomb married Rebecca Childs on January 31, 1793. They had five sons and two daughters.

On his enlistment, Newcomb was described as being 5 feet 7 inches tall, with hazel eyes, black hair and a dark complexion.

Newcomb enlisted on April 5, 1814 at Charlestown. His rank was private. He reported to USS Constitution on May 14, 1814 at Boston, Massachusetts. Newcomb transferred to ex-HMS Cyane as part of the prize crew on February 20, 1815 at sea. He was discharged on January 28, 1819.

Battles and Engagements

Newcomb was on board for the battle with HMS Cyane and HMS Levant.

Newcomb became a farmer in Harrison, Maine. His date and place of death are unknown.
