Francis Fox

Early Life

Francis Fox’s place and date of birth are not known, but he was noted in one account as being “a Frenchman.”

Fox entered USS Constitution on July 19, 1813 at Boston, Massachusetts. His rank was able seaman. He was demoted to ordinary seaman on December 15, 1813. He joined the prize crew of the HMS Levant which was recaptured by the British on March 12, 1815. He was repatriated and rejoined Constitution in May. Fox was discharged on July 18, 1815 at Boston, Massachusetts.

Battles and Engagements

Fox was on board for the battle with HMS Cyane and HMS Levant.

A shipmate of Fox’s wrote that he “came home after the war and lived in Salem Mass and became rich.” Fox’s date and place of death are unknown.
