Early Life

Jacob Herrick was born on November 31, 1792 in Boxford, Massachusetts to Nathaniel and Elisabeth Herrick.

On his enlistment, Herrick was described as being 6′ 2.5″ tall, which blue eyes, dark hair and a light complexion.

Herrick enlisted Charlestown Navy Yard on November 1, 1813. His rank was private. He joined USS Constitution on December 14, 1813 at Boston, Massachusetts. Herrick was promoted to corporal on December 14, 1814. On February 20, 1815 he transferred to ex-HMS Cyane, but deserted when the ship reached New York.

Battles and Engagements

Herrick was on board for the battle with HMS Cyane and HMS Levant.

Herrick’s date and place of death are unknown.
