James Shibals’s place and date of birth are not known.
Shibals entered USS Constitution as an able seaman on December 8, 1813 at Boston, Massachusetts. He was on larboard watch assigned to the mizzen top, and served as the first loader on the no. 4 carrondae. He transferred to the prize crew of either HMS Cyane or HMS Levant on February 20, 1815.
