Early Life

James Treanor was born in Ireland around 1778.

Early Experience

Prior to joining the Marine Corps, Treanor work as a blacksmith. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on April 12, 1809 at New York. His rank was Marine private.

Treanor was 5 feet, 6.5 inches tall with grey eyes, a dark complexion, and black hair.

Treanor transferred to USS Constitution from USS President on June 17, 1810 at Hampton Roads, Virginia. He transferred from USS Constitution on March 27, 1813 at Boston, and was ordered to USS Chesapeake on April 17, 1813. 

Battles and Engagements

Treanor was on board for the battle with HMS Guerriere.

Treanor was killed in battle on USS Chesapeake on June 1, 1813.
