Bevens entered USS Constitution on March 1, 1811 at New York, New York. His rank was able seaman. He attempted to desert on March 10, 1812 at Norfolk, Virginia, but was recaptured on March 15. He deserted again on April 12, 1812 at Washington, D.C., and was recaptured USS Constitution on June 9, 1812. Bevens was discharged on February 17, 1813. His rank was able seaman.
