John Brady was born in 1787 in New York, New York.

Early Experience

Brady enlisted in the Marine Corps as a private on April 13, 1811 at New York, NY.

Brady enlisted in the Marine Corps on April 13, 1811 at New York, New York. His rank was private. He entered USS Constitution on June 11, 1812 at Washington Navy Yard. He is reported as deserting on September 16, 1812 at Boston, but must have returned, as he was promoted on December 23, 1812 to sergeant. Brady transferred from USS Constitution to USS Chesapeake on March 27, 1813 at Boston, Massachusetts. Brady was wounded on USS Chesapeake on June 1, 1813. He entered Charlestown Navy Yard on July 5, 1813 at Charlestown Navy Yard. Brady deserted Charlestown Navy Yard on August 2, 1813 and was demoted on April 23, 1814. His rank was private. Brady transferred back to USS Constitution on December 11, 1814 at Boston, and was discharged on April 28, 1816.

Battles and Engagements

Brady was on board for the battles with HMS Guerriere and HMS Shannon .

Brady’s date and place of death are unknown.
