Early Life

John Hart was born in 1796 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

Early Experience

Hart enlisted in the Marines on May 7, 1813 at Boston. He joined USS Frolic at the Charlestown Navy Yard on July 11, 1814.

On his enlistment, he was described as being 5′ 4.5″ tall, with blue eyes, dark hair and a dark complexion.

On December 10, 1814, he joined USS Constitution. He was transferred to ex-HMS Cyane on February 20, 1815 after the ship’s capture.

Battles and Engagements

Hart was on board for the battles with HMS Cyane and HMS Levant, and the capture of HMS Pictou.

Hart’s date and place of death are unknown.
