Seaman John Heart transferred to Constitution from USS Wasp on July 27, 1811. He left the ship sometime after February 17, 1813.
Battles and Engagements
While Heart was on board, the ship made a diplomatic voyage to France and Holland. Heart participated in the battles against HMS Guerriere on August 19, 1812 and HMS Java on December 29, 1812, receiving $42.62 ½ and $42.30 prize money for the victories. He served as a sponger for no. 1 long gun, the forwardmost cannon on the gun deck.
