Ross entered USS Constitution as an able seaman on August 9, 1813 at Boston, Massachusetts. He was on the larboard watch, assigned to the foretop. In battle he was on the no. 13 gun team, working the side tackle, and also manned pumps. Ross was discharged on August 4, 1815.
