Hunt’s place and date of birth are unknown.

Hunt reported for duty to Constitution at Annapolis, Maryland on July 4, 1812. He was rated a boy. He was discharged at Boston on April 25, 1814.

Battles and Engagements

Hunt participated in the victories over HMS Guerriere on August 19, 1812 and HMS Java on December 29, 1812. He received $42.62 ½ and $42.30 in prize money for the victories. Hunt also participated in a subsequent war cruise in 1814 during which the ship captured one small British man-of-war and three merchantmen. In 1812 he served as powder passer for No. 12 carronade and in 1814 performed the same duty at no. 12 long gun.
