Early Life

Lewis Dodge was born on either 1782 or 1784 in Brookline or Brookfield, Massachusetts. He was the son of Thaddeus Dodge and Susan Holloway. Dodge married Susanna (Susan) Barnes in October 1804. He had three daughters, Tryphosa, Louisa, and Melissa, and four sons, Henry Lawton, Charles, Henry, and Harrison Barnes. He resided in Brookfield, Massachusetts around 1830.

Dodge joined Constitution ’s crew as an able seaman on July 16, 1814.

Battles and Engagements

Dodge participated in the battles with HMS Cyane and HMS Levant and received $22.19 in prize money.

He was transferred to USS Congress, then at Portsmouth, New Hampshire, on June 1, 1815. Dodge died of consumption on July 8, 1849 in West Brookfield, Massachusetts.
