Early Life

Whiteman’s place and date of birth are unknown.

Whiteman enlisted in the US Navy on June 24, 1812, and reported for duty on Constitution as a boatswain’s mate on July 2, 1812, while the ship was anchored at Annapolis, Maryland. He was discharged at Boston, Massachusetts on June 24, 1814.

Battles and Engagements

Whiteman served on board during Constitution ’s victory over HMS Guerriere on August 19, 1812. He also was there for the December 29, 1812 battle with HMS Java . During the second battle he served as first captain on carronade no. 2 on the forecastle.

Whiteman’s place and date of death is unknown.
