Early Life

Richard Gray’s place and date of birth are not known.

From October, 1813 to January, 1814, Gray had his pay allotted to Elizabeth Kimball, but there is no record of what her relationship to him may have been.

Gray transferred to USS Constitution from USS Essex on August 4, 1812 as a quarter gunner. He was the first captain of the no. 6 gun. He later served as an able seaman and boatswain before being discharged in June 1815.

Battles and Engagements

Gray was on board for the battles with HMS Guerriere, HMS Java, HMS Cyane and HMS Levant.

Gray’s date and place of death are unknown.
