Early Life
Samuel Rath was born in 1785 in Ireland.
Rath was 5 feet 11 inches tall. He had dark eyes, a light complexion, and black hair.
Rath enlisted in the Marines on May 11, 1811 at New Orleans. Rath entered USS Constitution on August 5, 1813 as a Marine Corporal. He was promoted to Marine sergeant on April 12, 1814. Rath detached USS Constitution on July 28, 1815.

Rath was on board for the battle with HMS Cyane and HMS Levant.
Rath’s date and place of death are unknown.
