Early Life

Thomas Johnson was born in 1789 in Baltimore, Maryland.

On his enlistment, Johnson was described as being 5′ 6.5″ tall, with grey eyes, brown hair and a light complexion.

Johnson enlisted in the Marine Corps on December 13, 1811 at Philadelphia. His rank was private. He transferred to USS Constitution on June 11, 1812 at Washington Navy Yard. He was transferred from USS Constitution on March 27, 1813 to the Charlestown Navy Yard. In July, he was claimed by the U.S. Army, but returned to USS Constitution in September. He was discharged on July 15, 1815 at New York.

Battles and Engagements

Johnson was on board for the battles with HMS Guerriere, HMS Java, HMS Pictou, HMS Cyane and HMS Levant.

Johnson’s date and place of death are unknown.
