Seaman Thomas Johnson joined Constitution ’s crew in Baltimore, Maryland on April 30, 1812. He left the ship sometime after February 17, 1813.

Battles and Engagements

He participated in victories over HMS Guerriere on August 19, 1812 and HMS Java on December 29, 1812, receiving $42.62 ½ and $42.30 in prize money for the victories. During the second engagement he was charged with passing empty cartridge or “pass boxes” to the steerage hatch, where they could be refilled with cartridges for the gun deck guns.
