William Johnson was born in what is now Maine. His date of birth is not known.
Johnson entered USS Constitution on March 1, 1811 at either New York, New York or Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He deserted on July 18, 1813 at Boston, Massachusetts was returned. He was demoted on February 12, 1814 to ordinary seaman. Johnson was discharged on June 15, 1815.
