Gordon was on board USS Siren when it captured by HMS Medway on July 12, 1814. He spent the rest of the war at Dartmoor prison. It’s unclear what happened after his release in 1815, but he received a commission as lieutenant at some point. He made requests to go to the Pacific and the Mediterranean in 1827, but was denied. Instead, he was transferred to the Baltimore receiving ship on December 15, 1827, and received a commission as Master Commandant on April 24, 1828. He died on May 25, 1834.
