Early Life

William Perry was born in 1783 in Salem, Massachusetts.

On his enlistment to the Marines, Perry was described as being 5 feet 6 inches tall, with grey eyes, brown hair and a fair complexion.

Perry enlisted as a private in the Marines on August 17, 1813 at Charlestown. He reported to USS Constitution on September 6, 1813. Perry transferred to USS Congress, then in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, on June 9, 1815. He was discharged on August 30, 1818 at New York.

Battles and Engagements

Perry was on board for the battle with HMS Cyane and HMS Levant.

Perry’s date and place of death are unknown.
