Early Life

William Rogers’s place and date of birth are not known.

Rogers entered USS Constitution as an able seaman on August 7, 1813 at Boston, Massachusetts. He was on the larboard watch assigned to the main top. At different points in his time on board, he served as the second loader on gun no. 3, passed shot and handled side tackles on carronade no. 3, and worked as a sail trimmer. He was court martialed for desertion on June 3, 1815, but the verdict is not known. He was discharged on July 31, 1815.

Rogers was on board for the battle with HMS Cyane and HMS Levant.

Rogers’s date and place of death are unknown.
