Early Life

William Widger was born in 1776 in Marblehead, Massachusetts.

In 1830, he was described as being 5’3″ tall, with grey hair and a dark complexion.

Widger entered USS Constitution as an ordinary seaman on August 24, 1813 at Boston, Massachusetts. He was on the starboard watch, assigned to the forecastle station. In battle, he served as second captain on gun no. 6. He transferred from USS Constitution to USS Congress on June 1, 1815 at Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

Battles and Engagements

Widger was on board for the battle with HMS Cyane and HMS Levant.

Widger’s date and place of death are unknown.
