Event:  Constructing “Old Ironsides” Programs

USS Constitution earned the nickname “Old Ironsides,” but do you know what gives her that incredible strength? In this Museum staff led program, discover how a unique design, strong construction materials, and the work of skilled craftsmen built a powerful warship that became a national symbol.

Event: Kite Workshop

Date:  Friday, April 24th

Time: 10:00 am- 12:00 pm

Price: $20 per participant/ $10 per guardian

Join the USS Constitution Museum for a kite making workshop with Blue Hill Observatory and Science Center. During the workshop, participants will create their own kites while also learning about the history and science of kites and kite flying.

After the workshop, participants can bring their newly-made kites over to the Commandant’s Lawn in the Charlestown Navy Yard and try them out as part of the Museum’s public Kite Flying Day!

This is an all-ages workshop that is best suited for participants aged 7 years and up.

Get in the Spring mood and visit USS Constitution Museum to create your own kite!

After you’ve finished creating one, bring your newly-made kites over to the Commandant’s Lawn in the Charlestown Navy Yard and try them out as part of the Museum’s public Kite Flying Day!
