Seafarers in their own words and pictures
This new exhibit features images from the ITF Seafarers’ Trust photography competition, an ongoing project to build a digital archive documenting seafarers’ experiences and perceptions. These personal, moving images shine a light on the experiences of people who comprise an essential workforce, but are often invisible to us.
The exhibit is part of USSCM Maritime Month and a companion to the 44rd annual Masters of Miniature: Ship Model Show and can be viewed during regular Museum hours from January 27 to February 29, 2024.
By presenting the reality of the seafaring men and women alongside the work of highly skilled Model shipwrights, we hope to explore the engineering beauty of ships throughout history and the realities their human crews face daily.
