See the U.S. Naval Academy Football Uniform Inspired by USS Constitution

For the 2025 Army-Navy Game, Navy took the field in a special uniform created for the U.S. Navy’s 250th anniversary, honoring USS Constitution and the founding story of the United States Navy.

Now, that uniform is on view at the USS Constitution Museum.

Created by the U.S. Naval Academy in collaboration with Under Armour, the uniform features details inspired by “Old Ironsides,” including a copper-colored helmet, hand-painted ship imagery, and design elements that reference the ship’s hull, sailcloth, rigging, and the original six frigates of the United States Navy.

More Than a Uniform

Army-Navy is one of the most celebrated rivalries in American sports, but the game stands for something larger than competition. For the midshipmen on the field, the uniform represents a commitment that extends beyond game day and graduation, into a life of service.

That commitment is rooted in the Navy’s core values of honor, courage, and commitment. Those values belong to the Navy, but their meaning reaches all of us. They speak to every American who chooses to serve a community, preserve history, strengthen an institution, or contribute to something larger than oneself.
