Step Aboard History with the New Guide from the USS Constitution Museum
Exploring Old Ironsides, a stunning visual guide by the USS Constitution Museum will soon be available exclusively through the Museum Store. Journey through the decks of USS Constitution and uncover tales of courage, camaraderie, and life at sea during the Age of Sail.
This book serves as a pictorial tour of USS Constitution as it exists today. Starting high aloft in the rigging, it proceeds deck-by-deck down to the keel at the bottom, highlighting the ship’s spaces and how they were used by the sailors who lived and worked there in the early 1800s. Each section features photography by Greg M. Cooper, and is illustrated with artifacts and documents from the USS Constitution Museum’s collection and fellow institutions to bring the ship’s rich history to life.
