USS Constitution Museum Opens New Exhibit About Today’s Crew
CHARLESTOWN, MA (July 29, 2019)—Today the USS Constitution Museum opened a new exhibit, titled Today’s Crew: USS Constitution. The exhibit, open to all visitors during regular Museum hours, highlights the active duty crew members currently serving aboard “Old Ironsides.”
“The magnitude of what we’re doing here, I don’t think any of us comprehend,” says USS Constitution crew member Olivia Manley in an interview featured in the new exhibit. “I think it’s kind of funny, like I’m 21, she’s 221. Just to see the difference is like going back generations where you see a family portrait of the grandmother, the mother, the daughter, you know, and the grandkids and everything like that. And this is like a huge family portrait for all of us. And that’s kind of how I like to look at it. It’s amazing.”
Through candid video interviews and vibrant photographs, visitors to the exhibit will learn from the sailors, in their own words, what it is like being in the United States Navy, spending time away from their families, and working aboard the oldest commissioned warship afloat.
The Museum is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. USS Constitution, America’s Ship of State, is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and is free to visitors with a government-issued I.D.
