USS Constitution Museum Winner of Three “Boston Family Favorites” Awards

CHARLESTOWN, MA (August 16, 2023)—The USS Constitution Museum is the winner in three categories for Boston Parents’ Family Favorites of 2023. It is the sixth year in a row that the Museum has received the “Historic Sites & Tours” award and the second consecutive year as the best “Museum and Attraction” from the readers of Boston Parents Paper. The Museum was also named “Coolest Place to Take a Tour.” 

All winners are featured in Boston Parents Paper’s August 2023 issue.

Boston Parents’ Family Favorites gives readers in Greater Boston and throughout the Northeast a chance to voice their opinions on their personal family favorites in 100 categories. Voting is conducted in a two-round process: the first round gathers open write-in nominations, and the second round asks voters to select their favorite from the top nominees in each category.

“The USS Constitution Museum is proud to serve families from Boston and beyond, sharing the stories of ‘Old Ironsides’ through hands-on exhibits and memorable experiences,” said Anne Grimes Rand, USS Constitution Museum President & CEO. She continued, “Engaging families is a core focus of the Museum’s mission, so we are honored to receive the awards from Boston Parents Paper readers.” 

The Museum’s many family-friendly exhibits include All Hands On Deck. Visitors are invited to learn not just by reading but by doing. They scrub the decks, scramble aloft to furl a sail, eat a meal of salted meat and ship’s biscuit, crawl into a hammock, and meet their fellow crew–both young and old–who lived aboard “Old Ironsides” during the War of 1812.

The Museum encourages a corresponding visit to America’s Ship of State, USS Constitution, open and free of charge for tours daily, followed by a round of mini-golf on the Museum’s Constitution-themed course. People of all ages can “putt through history,” testing their golf skills and history knowledge, available daily from 11 am – 5 pm through October (weather permitting).  There is no set fee for mini-golf or visiting the Museum, because we rely on donations – pay what you can, if you can.
