33rd Chief of Naval Operations

Recipient of the Charles Francis Adams Award

Admiral Lisa M. Franchetti, U.S. Navy (Ret.), the 33rd Chief of Naval Operations, concluded a distinguished four-decade naval career as the first woman to lead a branch of the United States Armed Forces and the first woman to serve as a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. A Surface Warfare Officer with nearly 20 years of operational and at sea experience, she commanded at every level—from USS Ross and two carrier strike groups to U.S. Sixth Fleet and Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO—and served as Vice Chief of Naval Operations before becoming the Navy’s highest ranking officer. The USS Constitution Museum is honored to recognize her extraordinary leadership and service with the Charles Francis Adams Award.

THE HONORABLE DANIEL J. RYAN

State Representative, Second Suffolk District, Massachusetts House of Representatives

Recipient of the “Old Ironsides” Exemplary Service Award

Massachusetts State Representative Daniel J. Ryan has represented the Second Suffolk District, encompassing the Charlestown and Fenway/Kenmore neighborhoods of Boston as well as sections of Cambridge, and Everett.  A Charlestown resident, he has devoted his career to constituent service and strengthening the communities he represents. As House Chair of the Joint Committee on Public Service, Representative Ryan continues to champion veterans and military families, public education, workforce development, public safety, and the historic Charlestown waterfront and the district’s waterways. The USS Constitution Museum is proud to present Representative Ryan with the “Old Ironsides” Award in recognition of his dedicated leadership, valued partnership, and enduring commitment to Charlestown and the community he serves.
