An Exclusive Tour of the Museum’s Collection and USS Constitution.

Join Carl Herzog, Public Historian for the USS Constitution Museum, for a special viewing of artifacts in the Museum’s Samuel Eliot Morrison Memorial Library, followed by a guided tour of “Old Ironsides.”

The August 5th tour will focus on Marines aboard USS Constitution in the 19th century. We’ll start in the Museum’s Reading Room to “open the vault” and look at items from the collection. Then, we’ll head over to board USS Constitution to see where the Marines lived and worked.

Tickets are limited to fifteen (15) guests to enable interaction and a special experience.

Painting of Marines on Constitution‘s Fighting Top, by William Gilkerson, c. 1991-1993. USS Constitution Museum Collection. Sherman Morss Gift.

Please note: USS Constitution is an active-duty U.S. Navy vessel. Attendees 18+ will need a federal or state issued photo ID for access to the ship.

Access to USS Constitution is limited to visitors who can safely board the ship’s top (spar) deck via ramp unassisted. Wheelchairs are only allowed to board during favorable tide conditions as the ramp can become too steep; otherwise, wheelchairs, walkers, scooters, and strollers are not allowed on board and must be left on the pier while touring the ship. Access to the below decks requires climbing and descending steep ladder-like steps.

100% of the ticket proceeds support the efforts of the USS Constitution Museum, a private, non-profit organization.
