During today's Underway USS Constitution will pause for a 17-gun salute near U.S. Coast Guard Station Boston, located at the site of the former Hartt's Shipyard where "Old Ironsides" was launched into service on October 21, 1797. If you want to see the world's oldest active-duty ship afloat in the world take to Boston Harbor today, there are great viewing locations at Charlestown Navy Yard, Castle Island, and the Boston Harborwalk. The ship is scheduled to depart at 10 am EST. 🇺🇸 ⚓

Is there a live stream?

Years back as some of the sails were being fabricated and fitted to the masts. and the crew was being trained on how to sail and man her as a live wind driven ship. I know the Navy did a study which came to the conclusion the masts would fail, the ship would sink, the loss of live would be terrible...even after she was rebuilt in 1995 to the 1812 specification - Mostly. if ever taken to sea again under sail - even close in costal waters. Plan was to sail her up to Marblehead once again to give a salute to Fort Sewall for saving her back in 1914.... But seriously folks... the Navy used todays engineering calcus looking at stress/strain curves, load paths, cantelevered structures, force vectors to reach that conclusion... She sailed perfectly well 200 years ago without todays desk jocky computer captians... She would have sailed just fine today. Modern science is great but it can't explain everything...like bumble bee flight. She should be allowed to sail again!

Visited Boston many times have visited uss constitution and uss Cassin young also seen naval ships and tall ships of the us and many other nations in Boston too great memories the liberty fleet of schooners and Boston tea party ships and museum are great too boston has soo much to offer
