Patchwork Quilt

To commemorate the 200th anniversary of USS Constitution’s launch in 1797, the 5th grade students at Harvard-Kent Elementary School in Charlestown, Massachusetts, made this quilt, which features a variety of nautical imagery. A labeled image of USS Constitution is surrounded by images of nautical flags, ropes, anchors, and other emblems of seafaring. 

Teachers include Mr. Halloran, Mrs. Walch, Mrs. D’Itria, and Ms. Kim Fitzsimmons. Students from the 1996-1997 class include Samantha, Betty, Ivellisse, Allen, Sherri, Susan, William, Rene, Steven, Shayla, Jeffrey, Nicole, Damika, Chris, Josephine, Ann, Alan, and Ian. Students from the 1997-1998 class include Edward, Jacqueline, Herman, Zacharie, Benny, Cindy, Shanice, Nicholas, Andy, Tracy, Michael, Jonas, Tammy, Miguel, Jammie, Stephen, Joshua, and Sidney.
