Broadside titled “Glorious News! Fourth Naval Victory”
Printed on February 17, 1813 by the New Hampshire Gazette with the headline “Glorious News. Fourth Naval Victory!”, this broadside announces USS Constitution’s victory over HMS Java on December 29, 1812. This victory occurred off the coast of Brazil during the War of 1812. The text reports on the number of killed and wounded, including the death of Lieutenant John Cushing Aylwin, and also lists damage sustained by Constitution.
