The U.S. Marine Corps kept detailed records of the men who enlisted in the early nineteenth century, including places of birth, terms of enlistment, physical descriptions, and even previous occupations. Taken together, these records help us craft a composite picture of the 109 non-commissioned officers, musicians, and enlisted men who fought as Marines on board USS Constitution during the War of 1812.
